So I had won this great year-long contest at work. My prize was 4 days in sunny Hollywood, Florida. I could not wait. My friend, Rhonda was going to accompany me. We were so excited. Then, I got the dreaded email. Trip canceled. I was bummed.
Since I had planned to have those days off anyway, I decided to make my own trip. Although, having to pay my own way didn't sound as appealing. Nevertheless, I thought I owed it to myself. Last year was a tough year and somehow I managed to win that contest.
To Vegas it was. My first time. I know. You would think that I would have visited before. Now was the perfect opportunity. Five days in a sunny and warm place, away from the cold winter of Kansas.
I had the best time. The weather was perfect, mid seventies and clear skies. I sat at the pool a couple of hours every day and sipped on large refreshing drinks. The best part was that it was warm enough by 930 or 10 to be at the pool. Besides, it's 5 o'clock somewhere, right?
At night, I gambled some and went to a couple of amazing Circus du Soliel shows. If you've never seen one in person, I would highly recommend it. These people are so gifted and talented. It makes you feel physically inadequate. I can barely stand up and walk straight and these people were swinging and climbing around like it was simply breathing.
I had a wonderful time. Vegas is not for everyone. Thankfully it was for me.
